BayWa r.e. begins generating electricity at San Lupo

to overview

The 48MW wind park was completely developed and built by BayWa r.e. With 16 newly-installed Vestas V117 3 MW wind turbines, San Lupo is one of the largest wind parks in Italy, and follows soon after the completion of two smaller wind parks by BayWa r.e. in the Lazio region.

All three wind parks were made possible thanks to financing secured through NORD/LB. The combined 66 MW of installed capacity will help support Italy’s contribution toward EU renewables targets, which aim to achieve 32 per cent of all energy production coming from renewable energy by 2030.

“The realization of this wind park, after more than 10 years of development and hard work, highlights the depth of global expertise within BayWa r.e. that can be called upon to successfully deliver complex projects. For San Lupo, this also included participating in the network construction needed to connect the plant to the National Grid”, says Alessandra Toschi, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Italia Srl. “Moreover, we’re pleased to have further cemented existing strong partnerships on this project with NORD/LB for finance, and with Vestas for supply and ongoing maintenance of their top-of-the-range wind turbines. We continue to look for additional projects to acquire and develop in Italy so we can continue our excellent track record.”

The San Lupo wind park is the result of many years of precision planning, and included the construction of a particularly complex grid connection to feed the power back into the National Grid.

BayWa r.e. will continue to operate and maintain the San Lupo plant - generating renewable energy that will help deliver a greener future for Italian households.
